NOSCE TE IPSUM.
Know thyself,
The intoxicating gases of the Oracle of Delphi, through which the Pythia spoke in a trance in the temple of Apollo, could just as well have been present during the conception and creation of Errol Buwalda's enchanting work.
The text "Know Thyself" engraved on the temple of the same name will continue to resonate after seeing this exhibition and leave many people in awe.
The work of this Rotterdam "grandmaster," who started out as a tattoo artist in Utrecht and now lives in Antwerp, gets under your skin. The masters of the High Renaissance and Baroque held a strong fascination for Errol, and still do. He also drew considerable inspiration from the works of Caravaggio, Guido Reni, and admired Peter Paul Rubens, Jacob Jordaens, and Anthony van Dijck.
In 2013 he took a masterclass with the Dutch classical master painter Cornelis Le Mair, which gave him a push in the right direction.
Errol's works are directly connected to the past, present, and future of the inner self, with all its flaws and virtues. It is then up to the viewer to wonder if there might be a rarity based on their own judgment.

A cacophony of visual art, performances, a chaotic market, face painting for children, and, yes, a real stunt show! In short, a colorful carnival.

Over ons
We are Peter and Eva.
For years, we both explored Eindhoven's music and café scene until fate connected us in 2010. We soon discovered we shared a passion for art, culture, and music.
Another thing we had in common was that we were both horders in the broadest sense of the word, meaning that very soon after we moved in together, we had filled the entire house with statues, paintings, small framed objects, lamps, books, plants, souvenirs, posters, glasses, and vases. Dragons, superheroes, skulls, Buddhas, statues of Jesus and Mary, flowers, boats in bottles, boxes of marbles, children's crafts and baked goods we couldn't throw away, things we were "going to use someday," and so on… in short, we soon lived in a "mini-museum." People and children stared in amazement, often with a look like, "How on earth can you live here?"
That passion became a fantasy about a real mini-museum, a kind of gallery.

But no 'gallery' gallery.
A place where crazy things happen and where people leave with a strange sense of confusion, yet inspired by it. A place where various exhibitions are organized, both our own and those of others. Where one moment a stand-up comedian delivers his or her story, and the next the gods are invoked for a ritual after a Pilates class. Where lectures can be given, or special meetings held. It's impossible to describe in a single sentence.
Something like this would never have been possible in the house we lived in on Hortensiastraat in Eindhoven, so we slowly but surely began searching for a suitable place to make it happen. Oh yes, and we also had to be able to live there, together with our five children, only one of whom now lives at home.
After searching for several years, Peter's father came up with the bold idea of doing this in their house. They had been living in the Diepenvoorde villa in Aalst-Waalre for quite some time and missed the hustle and bustle. They were also getting older and couldn't bear the thought of having to leave one day.
Thus it was done.
The kitchen, utility room and garage were converted into a luxury senior apartment where they could stay together with the dog Iky, and we ended up in the rest of the beautiful house.
In May 2024, the first exhibition finally opened! A dream come true, and we hope to continue to delight, amaze, and (over)stimulate people for a long time to come, in all shapes and sizes.
